I started listening to the Behind the Launch summit while out walking the dogs and had to stop. It is way too hard to take notes when you have a 130lb animal jerking your arm every few seconds. And I needed to take notes. There have been so many gold nuggets already, and I was only 2 sessions in. If you haven’t grabbed your free seat yet, you can do so here. I do want to warn you about one thing that popped up for me when I was listening—which was, the “thing that worked” isn’t always the actual thing being discussed. Let me explain. The first time it hit me was during the conversation with Kim Kiel titled “The $150K Google Doc Sales Page Launch”. When asked, “What’s something that worked well during your last launch? “ Kim spoke about using a Google doc as a sales page, saying its simplicity worked well for the launch. So does that mean you should be replacing your fancy sales page for a Google doc? No. Because the sales page being a Google doc isn’t what led to the sold-out, $150k launch, her client had*. And that’s the thing that popped up for me that I wanted to remind you of today. The idea that, when you listen to course material, podcasts, summits, YouTube videos, etc it’s vitally important to assess what you’re being told.
What you don’t want to do is discount the entire thing because it sounds too good to be true. You’re going to miss some great ideas and lessons that way. You also don’t want to embrace the entire thing as 100% true, will work for anyone, set in stone that’s how to do it. That road leads to months and years of trying one new thing after another, looking for a magic key. Assessment, questioning, and deciding what to take and what to leave, is absolutely vital to building a sustainable and profitable business that doesn’t leave you exhausted in a corner wondering why nothing ever works for you the way you want it to. Taking the time to consider what you’re hearing; that’s the magic key you’re looking for. Xo, *If you want to know what it actually was, I suggest you take a listen. You’ll hear Kim give a masterclass on best practices when launching and most of it happens BEFORE the launch.
